We’ve never really thought about backpack adjustment straps before this bag. They’re usually just sort of “there.” But all of the adjustment straps on this pack are really awesome—nice metal buckles that just work really well. The shoulder straps are ridiculously easy to adjust, probably the slickest system we’ve ever seen on a backpack. You can easily loosen one of the straps and swing the pack in front of you to access side pockets with minimal effort. I have several “good” (even “great”) bags that are super lightweight. However, they will not weather abrasion, misuse and abuse as well as my “heavy duty” (thus “heavy”) bags from GoRuck, Mystery Ranch and Peak Design. Most backpacks I would be looking at are 250+.When the first PD released it was crazy money. I know this bag so well, and it does everything I ask it to do without complaint, why would I want anything else? There simply isn't anything else on the market that is quite like it.

I also have a proper, load distributing backpack to use when needed — to carry camp gear along with cameras. It is how I get my GFX gear on the airplane, that and the PD Everyday messenger "briefcase". If you pick the bag up and forget to zip shot one of the sides, disaster can occur as your lenses slide out and hit the ground. The side panels are what makes the pack great, but it is also dangerous.
I can take out dividers and add a PD clip to mount my camera while having a bag to fill stuff with while out and about. Fits under the seat on an airplane and in the overhead if I want leg room. Weak points are the side zippers (eventually give out) and the chest strap is fiddly and over-engineered.

They're somewhat more comfortable but the difference isn't huge for this 30L size. The Shimoda was great but sold it after I got the peak design 30L. At 45L and 60L, I think there are better options than PD. Fits all the camera and lenses I need to travel with.

Funny enough though, my 1 Lowepro bag I do have has TERRIBLE straps. It was the gen 1 photosport 200 aw (bright orange). Great bag that could hold up to awful abuse, but those straps... @jaberg can I ask what you would consider a great lightweight bag? I like both a lot, but sometimes I want something super light weight.

Saw other post of yours- I have seen that triple zip. Not sure it will be good at distributing weight to hips/ legs. Oh, it has one redeeming feature, it accommodates a PD tripod well. I bought those original ones, the the next version. It's fully functional and in good condition after 6+ years (not sure how old is the one exactly), despite laying them on the hiking ground - including on the ice.
The bag I tested is the 30-liter version, and there's also a smaller 20-liter one, and 30 liters is pretty damn voluminous. You're easily going to be able to throw two sub-full-frame camera bodies into this and three to four zoom lenses (or an entire collection of primes if you mostly shoot fixed, like me). Peak Design claims that you can fit a full-frame DSLR strapped to a mm into this, too, and I believe them, though like other mirrorless converts, it's not something I can easily verify. Using this bag for travel depends on your style and how much you want to bring along with you. Our friend Jon, who we interviewed over in the Pack Hacker Travel Styles section, has used the original Everyday Backpack 30L as a one-bag travel backpack long-term—and it’s worked great for him.
